The National Service Scheme (NSS) unit of Guru Nanak Institute of Engineering and Technology is an important part of the institute that helps students take part in social and community service activities. NSS works with the motto "Not Me but You," which teaches students the value of helping others and serving society without expecting anything in return. The main aim of NSS is to develop the personality of students through social service and to make them responsible and disciplined citizens. The NSS unit gives students an opportunity to work for society and understand the real problems faced by people in villages and urban areas.
The NSS unit at GNIET organizes many activities throughout the year for the benefit of society and the overall development of students. Various programs such as tree plantation drives, blood donation camps, cleanliness campaigns, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan activities, health check-up camps, road safety awareness rallies, yoga sessions, environmental awareness programs, and village development activities are conducted regularly. Students actively participate in these programs and learn the importance of teamwork, leadership, discipline, and social responsibility. NSS also encourages students to spread awareness about health, hygiene, education, and environmental protection among people.
Objective
The main objective of NSS is to create social awareness among students and encourage them to contribute towards nation building. It helps students understand the needs and problems of society and motivates them to find practical solutions through voluntary service. NSS aims to build confidence, communication skills, and leadership qualities in students by involving them in different community activities. It also develops feelings of unity, cooperation, and humanity among students.
